Deck One Project Description
This client had long dreamt of having a swimming pool a deck and natural surroundings to relax and get back to nature in. In our meetings with them we explained the options available with regard to power lines, septic systems and how to best undertake the excavations that would be necessary to reach their goal. Also important to the designs were incorporating the existing landscaping, selecting unobtrusive fencing options and how the design of the outdoor features would flow with the interior of their home.
Our designers at Catoctin Construction Management work closely with the client and served as liaison with the sub-contractors and the Department of Health to determine the most effective layout for the items in the scope of work. We developed the designs for the swimming pool and deck first to meet the need of the clients and second to fit within the parameters of the existing utilizes.
We removed and buried the overhead power lines to allow for the second level deck. We mapped out and verified the locations of the waste systems to avoid digging the pool too close to them and obtained all the permits from the county for the work.
The end result is a fantastic deck, giving the clients the views they so valued, an elegant swimming pool, convenient for the client and very private for their entertaining and a natural wooded waterfall area for them to relax by only steps from their home.
During the design of the project the client mentioned having a convenient place to hide their unsightly trash cans and we came up with a garden gate structure for them. This gate now serves as the main entrance to their property and locks away the waste cans from animals and the sight of their guests.
